End of Month, farewell 2009

I've been MIA lately...however, "A: stands for action and there's been a lot of it!

The entire first floor of the house has a new coat of paint...well, all but the laundry room...I ran into a bit of a problem...more on that later.

I could tell you about all the things that have happened, but this would be an even longer post than the missing one that I just found.

It's New Year's Eve and I'm even more anxious to begin 2010 than I was 2009. As 2009 began I was facing all the details of my divorce.  As this year ends there are only two loose ends left...the largest being the sale of the house.  I have full confidence that by June 2010 the three of us will be in a new home.  We are very excited about the prospect of making a new place a home.

Painting this month has been extremely therapeutic.  Last winter's painting project was very hard emotionally.  But now, painting was about making the house that had been so good to us feel warm and welcoming to someone new who we hope will love it and enjoy it as much as we did.  I should try to take daylight photos tomorrow.

There was a time when on New Year's Eve there would've been a recap.  Not tonight. Instead, there's a whole lotta reading that needs to be done.  Actually, my Bloglines count passed the 800 mark.  So, if you happen to be here because I left a comment on your post from anytime in the past 3-4 months...you now know why.

And why is it that I now have time to catch up on reading?  My knee was introduced to a bit of concrete pavement thanks to a bit of glare ice yesterday.  There will NOT be any painting during my extended holiday weekend.  This month began with a trip to the emergency room and probably should've ended the same way...but Dr. Mom thinks it'll be fine with a bit of rest.

Instead, let's remember something more positive...a month that began with a beautiful full moon.  And, is ending with another full moon...a blue moon...the only one on New Year's Eve for nineteen years (according to my Mom and Yahoo News).   Blue moons are special to me, my youngest was conceived during the blue moon of June 1996. (There's NO chance for that tonight!!)

Mid-December (missing post)

I wrote this post on December 10th...unfortunately, it disappeared until December 31st.

Gee, two more days without blogging and I could’ve used the Twelve Days of Christmas as a theme for an entry.  This week a certain movie was released and it reminded me of this post where I said that I’d planned to blog each day.  Ain’t happening.  And I’m not at all upset about it.  Sorry.

Since, for some, it’s the season of making lists here’s what could’ve been fodder for blog entries:

· An open house and private showing…no, the house hasn’t sold yet

· Found a house we want to buy…no, the house hasn’t sold yet

·  Painted the powder room, priced carpeting and new countertops…no, the house hasn’t sold yet but we’re trying to do everything we can to make it appealing since we now have a house we want to buy

· Became a shepherdess…no, not for the Christmas pageant but instead rounded up the sheep scattered throughout the house…seems it provides a “country” atmosphere and buyers want “modern”, not “country” hence the aforementioned shopping trip to price carpet (can afford) and counters (can’t afford) since mine are “blue” and that’s NOT what most people want.

· The sheep have NOT been counted!  They are being herded into a Rubbermaid container in the garage to be shipped off to the storage unit and released once again in our new home…which, have I mentioned, we think we’ve found but need to sell this one first!

· Went to the emergency room for the second (or is it the third?) time this year.  Dodge ball…need I say more!?!  The eardrum wasn’t perforated, the hearing has been restored, and the glasses are still in need of repair.  Gotta love a kid who enjoys playing!!!

· Haven’t had a pair of socks on the needles in over a month.  Unheard of in my previous life (only 17 months ago)!  Didn’t even miss them on the trip to the emergency room.  However, I’m suddenly itching to knit socks again but am feeling the need to design them myself.  Watch this space.

· No socks does not = no knitting.  My sweater now has sleeves and is complete…except for the photo shoot.  The pattern is my own and I’ve used it to teach people the Gansey method (it’s knit in such a way that when finished, it’s finished…no assembly required!) but now I want it to be available for purchase so need to get the pdf set up…which has currently taken a backseat to the needs of my house…but watch this space for news of the pattern!

· A blizzard.  Did I mention we got dumped on!?!  They even cancelled school.  Which meant there was enough snow to require several trips outside to take care of snow removal.  Heavy, wet snowman snow.  Thank goodness for a kind neighbor with a big snowblower who cleared the end of my driveway after the plows went through.  If it hadn’t been for him, I might still be out there trying to clear it away…it was HEAVY, WET snow!! 

 

· Afterwards, I painted the powder room, then collapsed into my chair and knit a hat.  Phew!

Over the next ten days I’m not sure how much blogging there will be.  There is

· a cookie baking party

· overnight guests

· a laundry room that will need a wallpaper border removed

· and then to be painted

· a china cabinet that needs to be emptied

· and then moved

· in order to paint the living room

· and have the carpet replaced

· a school Christmas concert

· and retrieval of a college Freshman for the holidays!

The holidays…oh yeah, at some point there will need to be a tree and cards.  Thank goodness I made myself promise NOT to knit for Christmas this year!  How’s your list?

December already

First off, I don't know what happened to my Thanksgiving Day post.  I wrote it ahead of time and set it to publish...didn't happen.  So I've posted it tonight.

How'd it get to be December!?!  Thanksgiving being late this year has thrown me a bit off.  We had a fabulous weekend with the Michigan cousins!  Late nights, early mornings, and lots of laughter.  We came home totally relaxed.

But, now it's December and I don't have a single finished knitting project to show you.  In fact, I don't even have a single pair of socks on the needles.  There hasn't been a pair of socks in my purse since the end of October! 

There was a bit of knitting though.  First a quick photo of and then the sleeve knitting.  The first one went quickly.  The second sleeve I'd hoped to finish this past weekend but we were having WAY too much fun!  And now it's back to the grind and there hasn't been any knitting since Friday.

My hope is to finish it this week.  However, there is something going on each evening PLUS we have to prepare for another open house this weekend.  But, it would be nice to show some finished projects for December.  Happy December!
