This is what I was greeted with this morning when I went to fetch my morning brew. Yes, it says -12. (And, yes, I know that there are places that were even colder this morning.) I could hear the wind chimes dancing and playing their song outside which could mean only one thing: the wind chills were going to be nasty as I headed out the door to work!
The local school districts had canceled today's classes yesterday afternoon already. Good call. The kids were all snug in their beds as I headed in to the office. That's when I noticed...my "primary" mittens seem to have gone AWOL and my "back-ups" (an early attempt at mittens) were knit with a gauge too large. How do I know the gauge is wrong? The "breeze" that seems to drift through my mittens is a pretty good indicator.
And if the missing pair and the breezy pair weren't enough to indicate that maybe it's time for me to get going on mittens, then check out my word cloud!
I'd seen Isobel's and made this one of my own. (You can get one of your own, whether you have a blog or not, at Wordle.) Notice what words seems to jump off the page!?! "Get"
"Mittens"
"Check"
"Yarn"
"Mitten"
Guess what I'll be making for myself this weekend!?!
BTW it seems fitting that this word cloud shows up today...if you look closely you'll see that frequent commenter, LauraW's, name shows up and today happens to be her birthday.
AND, Thanks again to Tini for the Hagar the Horrible book. Point of clarification about my previous post..."almost let down by the contents" didn't mean I was disappointed that it was a comic book, I was worried that since it was a comic book that it might not actually be intended for me and I'd have to mail it back...now that would've been a let down- to receive a parcel only to have to give it back. That would've been a bummer! Mystery revealed.
I'm honored to be in your word bubble. While not a birthday present, I received a too-good-a-deal-to-pass-up coat from my family. It was very appropriate.

We are the proud owners of 9°F. I'm sure that seems warm to you - though not so much to us. Temperatures so low really suck the life out of one, don't they?
PS - How long does it take to knit a pair of mittens? What's your favorite (SIMPLE) pattern?

I still had to teach class today! Those word clouds are so fun.
