It's not noticeable. The sock on the left has 13 repeats of pattern and the one on the right 12 repeats. As soon as I bound off and "cut the cord", they went on my feet and voila! The discrepancy was apparent...at least on my foot.
In my jet lag, I forgot to write down that I started the gussets after 5.5 repeats. When the second sock came along, and since there were no notes on the first sock, I examined the first sock and guessed that I'd started the gussets after 5 repeats (since normally I try to do so after a "whole" number.) Goofy me.
So the second sock is 5 rows shorter on the foot and 5 rows shorter on the leg. Not a huge difference...more noticeable when the socks are folded in the drawer than on my foot.
And I don't care that they aren't perfect. In fact, I love it. That's life; it's not quite perfect! What is perfect is that I managed to convert a CookieA pattern to toe-up...while on the road! What is perfect is that I have a pair of socks that are warm and comfy and will always remind me of Amsterdam.
Now I have 'Dam socks to go with my 'Dam Bird photo. They're perfect!
