I've been around the block. I've read your blogs. Some of you actually get to knit while you work...or knitting is your work. Either way, knitting while I work is a foreign concept to me. At least, it would not happen in my current office environment (nor would I want it to, honestly). However, when given the opportunity to review this conference for my employer, I knew that my knitting would come with me. I sit in a row that is well lit and today had a bit of company. See the lady with her embroidery...she even carries the same handbag that I carry!!! How funny is that!?!
My notes (and socks) are progressing nicely.
This particular conference runs from 9AM till 9PM. It's a very long day. In fact, I just got in for the evening (it's currently 11:15 PM), having stopped at the corner grocer on my walk back to my hotel for some bread and brie and cherries for my supper. (I'm in an area of Amsterdam known as De Pijp and feel incredibly safe to walk the streets.)
Last night, since I'd already seen the movie that was being shown, I chose to take the tram into the city center and meet the knitters of the Amsterdam Stitch n Bitch. What a great group.
Andy, Nancy, ??, Alex, Gillian, ??, Micah, and me around the table with two others whose names I've also forgotten. (Though I think that was pretty good considering there must've been some residual jet-lag going on!)
I'd asked the group if there was anything they'd like me to bring with me from the US. Alex listed a good Mexican restaurant (among other things) so a goodie bag came along with lots of fun items including some of my favorite Mexican food mixes. They are planning a Knitpick Picnic for Saturday afternoon. If my plane gets delayed (like it did last time), I've got their phone numbers and am invited to join them in Westerpark. Wouldn't that be grand!?! Thanks Amsterdam Knitters for making me feel so welcome!
One more day of conferences and then Thursday and Friday are mine to play in this city. (And the 'Dam Knitters gave me some great recommendations for my free time!)
