Second
My "race" for the second event of the Sock Knitters Pentathlon is complete!
The pattern was posted about twenty minutes later than planned. Those were LONG minutes...wondering if all was okay, checking out the Ravelry Group to see if there were news or that I'd missed an update. The pattern that was posted was a translation of a German Pattern. (There has been a lot of confusion about the design translation that appeared on the Yahoo Group. I found it much easier to understand the German designer's instructions.)
I cast on at 7:30PM. I'd hoped to knit straight through and finish by 4 AM. However, at 1:30 AM, when I finished knitting the first sock, I knew that wasn't going to happen!
I snuck a peek at the computer at 5:00 and saw that Barbro had finished first for the second time in a row! (Congrats Barbro!!!) 9 hours 51 minutes!!! That woman's fingers must FLY!!!!
By 6:00, as the foot was taking shape, my family started to make noises upstairs as they were preparing for work and school.
I did the morning carpool at 7:30 and came home to cross the "finish line".
These were worked top down and I saved the kitchener for both socks for that last. Do you know how long it's been since I've kitchenered sock toes!?! It was successful. Snapped a photo of the completed pair to post to the Yahoo site.
To my surpise, no one had posted a completed photo except Barbro. That makes me SECOND for this leg of the five events!!! Yippee!!!
Fifth last time, second this time. (I was hoping to place around third.) I so excited AND SO exhausted! Time to crawl in bed and get some sleep. Have a good Friday everyone. (Sure glad I took today off!!)

Whoa! Nite-knitting - scary! Despite being a non-gambler, I would have had no trouble at all putting $$ on you to win this type of thing. Sounds like you did well - Way to go!

Woo hoo! congratulations! What dedication to the competition. This time round, I'd love to place within the first hundred, but bearing in mind it's now 10 to 6 in the evening and I had the day off, I'm inspired to tell you that I have frogged back to the cuff on the first sock, since it was a bit baggy on 68 stitches. Not. Ah well, my fingers just don't fly, and I haven't stayed up through the night since I was at university....

Blimey - that's a bit of a marathon knit. Well done on coming second. Not a bad position - Oh, and nifty socks!
